University of Maryland Global Campus honored more than 50 student leaders with a Student Organization Leader Award for their service during the 2025-26 academic year. Student organization leaders develop professionally, strengthen their leadership skills, and build a sense of community as they plan events, collaborate on projects, and contribute to activities.

During the 2025-26 academic year, University of Maryland Global Campus recognized more than 1,000 students for their service on the Student Insight Council. These volunteers play a vital role in shaping the UMGC experience by providing feedback that helps create a stronger future for the university community.

University of Maryland Global Campus honored eight students with a Student Governance Award for their service on the university's Student Advisory Council (STAC) for the 2025-26 academic year. Members of STAC are elected by the student body and serve in an advisory capacity to the university president, provost, deans, and other officials to express the views of students.

Members of the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) have completed the Foundations of Leadership program during the 2025-26 academic year. The Leadership program is a four-step development program that prepares them to be effective leaders in their lives and careers. NSLS is a leadership development organization with more than 2 million members and more than 800 chapters across the United States and Latin America. NSLS began more than 20 years ago to help the greatest number of people in the most significant way through a dedicated mission to build strong, successful leaders. The society encourages community action, volunteerism, personal growth, and strong leadership from its chapters and members around the world.

To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.
